Post-colonial, Postmodern Post-"yoga" Yoga

Tonight we'll look at some of the difficult questions unearthed in our last two episodes on the history of the physical Yogas. The last couple decades have of course seen all the big social movements — #MeToo, #BLM, and more — reproduced in global Yoga communities, not just as scandals and canceling people, though lots of that, but also in the kind of self-critical introspection that interrogating post-colonial cultural artifacts always gives rise to. We look at some of this in historical context, including cultural appropriation, the end of lineages, and the turn in culture and conscious social practice known as the postmodern.
