More Stories of the Buddha for Vesak

Hi friends, this Saturday is the full moon that ends the month of Vesak—Visākha in Pāli. The holiday celebrates the birth, awakening, and death of the Buddha, Siddhattha Gotama of the Sakyan clan (563-483 BCE), in an area between the Himālayas and the river Ganga known as Greater Magadha. A few weeks ago I told the story of Sujātā, who gave the milk-rice that marked Gotama's discovery of the Middle Way, and set the stage for his awakening. Tonight, we'll look at some of the other stories around this world-changing teacher, both mythical and more earthly.
