Intention & Kamma, Nonviolence, Resistance

Last night at Spirit Rock (link below) I talked on the implications of the teachings on nonviolence in relation to the war in Palestine and war in general, framing the issue around right view and the Eightfold Path.

Tonight I'll unpack some of what came up in the discussion afterward, particularly around violence in self-defense or for the purpose of liberation or stopping a greater violence, as well as some of the links between violence and identity, including family/national/ethnic heritage and culture as geopolitical entities that inevitably are marked by suffering and self-other dynamics that have violence at their core.
